Trans Canada Trail
Vancouver Island BC
Trans Canada Trail

Access to the Trans Canada Trail via the Nanaimo River Road can be
found approximately 8km from the main island highway at the Pipeline Trail
access (look for two white gates on either side of the road). Unmarked
but for some small signs courtesy TRAILS BC. I drove right pass it the
first time and ended up at the Nanaimo Lakes Campgrounds.
Heading south you need to turn off the pipeline trail at the bottom
of the hill in order to stay on the Trans Canada Trail to the Nanaimo River.
You can ride part of the way but at this time it is mostly nothing more than
a rough foot path. The trail North along the the Pipeline Trail leads to the Community of Extension and the Extension Ridge Trail.
Trail users of this section of trail should note that this section of trail is
under development and very primary trail markers and trail development
are in place. Most of the trail markers I found seem to be courtesy of
TRAILS BC Vancouver Island Region Directory
Trail south ends at the Nanaimo River, currently there is no crossing
to the other side but a proposed bridge is planned.
