The Vancouver Island portion of the Trans Canada Trail starts in Victoria
following the Galloping Goose Regional Trail traveling north up the
Malahat Drive to Shawnigan Lake, just south of Duncan and into
the Cowichan Valley, then north to Nanaimo, where it connects to
the mainland by ferry. The length of the trail is approximately 200 km
and passes through scenic forest, mountain, coastal rural areas, and
provincial parks visiting several communities along the route.

Koksilah River Provincial Park, 4km down Renfrew Road, north
end Shawnigan Lake, is the bypass route for the Kinsol Trestle
section of the Trans Canada Trail just north of Shawnigan Lake.
