Shawingan Lake is a small
community of vacation homes and private
cottages with limited public access. Plenty of B&B's and summer
rentals,

Park on western side and Memory
Island Prov.
Park a small island at the southern end of the Lake. The lake contains
rainbow and cutthroat trout, kokanee and smallmouth bass, warm water
makes it a popular boating and swimming area during the summer months.
The surrounding areas provides great cycling and mountain biking terrain.
Access to the Trans
Canada Trail can be found near the end of
Sooke Lake Road at the Southern end of Shawnigan lake. Turn off
the Malahat
Drive (Hwy 1) at the Shawnigan Lake Rd. (South) turn off.
Sooke Lake Rd. left hand side just before West Shawnigan Lake Rd.
