BC PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS - VICTORIA Photo Courtesy Ryan Bushby and Wikimedia Commons The Parliament buildings and grounds in Victora, B.C. are among the most beautiful in the world, even when compared to national capitals. Designed by 25-year-old Francis Rattenbury and built between 1893 and 1898, the Parliament Buildings (also called the Legislature) are an architectural gem. Located on Victoria's Inner Harbour, many of Victoria's other major attractions are right next store to the BC Legislature, these included the Royal British Columbia Museum, the Undersea Gardens, the Royal British Columbia Wax Museum and the Empress Hotel, also designed by Francis Rattenbury, this building almost never existed. Sir Thomas Shaughnessy, president of the CPR didn't want to build the Empress Hotel because he felt there would not be enough business. Today Victoria is visited by over 3 million visitors annaully.
